RED CAT GANG — STUDIO

We work
with Dongseo University

Multi-label · transmedia IP holding studio

Each label manages its own work, while headquarters supports production technology and distribution.

INDUSTRY–ACADEMIA

The university and company
workthe same way

Our CEO is a professor in the department, students take part in actual production, and we build our tools with the university. Industry-academic cooperation is not a separate program. It is how we work.

400

Students in Dongseo University's Department of Animation. It is the largest animation department in the country.

2027

The arts departments are being combined to form Stella College of Arts.

800

Enrollment capacity after the merger. It will be one of the country's largest arts colleges.

This is the scale of the university connected to the company. We meet people here every year and make actual projects with some of them.

01PROFESSOR & FOUNDER

Our CEO is a professor in the department

CEO Lee Jun-seok is a professor in Dongseo University's Department of Animation. The working methods used with students in class are much the same as those used in the company's commercial productions.

Methods that work well in class are brought into company projects, and problems encountered in production become topics for the next semester.

02STUDENTS IN PRODUCTION

Students take part in actual production

Through Dongseo University's Content One Campus program, students created and released the AI animation <Magical Girls>. Set in Gwangalli and Centum City, it became the starting point for Busan Magical Girls.

This is not work that ends as an assignment. There is a significant difference between graduating with and without the experience of releasing work to the public.

03JOINT RESEARCH

We build tools together

The production management tool AICinePipe was developed through joint research by Dongseo University and Red Cat Gang. The login screen also identifies it as joint research.

This is research that became a tool used every day instead of ending with a paper. The university and the company use the same tool.

04PEOPLE

Developing people takes time

We aim to create a path where people we meet in class, and work with through actual production, become central to the next project.

Hiring people only when they are needed has not worked well for this kind of work. Our connection with the university lets us watch people develop over several years.

MULTILABEL LOGIC

Labels create,
headquarters supports

01FIRST IP

We are starting with Busan Magical Girls

The dark fantasy survival series <Busan Magical Girls> is our main title and a place to test how we work. We handle everything directly, from planning and production to release across different media.

Methods established here are used in the next project. Many parts are still being worked out.

02SECOND GENRE

We deliberately work in another genre as well

The children's animation <Teumbreakers> has a completely different audience and genre from Busan Magical Girls. We deliberately added a project in another area.

A method that works in one genre may only work in that genre. We are seeing whether what works in dark fantasy also works for children's animation.

03PEOPLE

People come from the university

We work with Dongseo University's Department of Animation and Institute of Virtual Convergence Technology. Faculty, industry-academic staff, and student education are all brought together.

The industry-academic structure described above continues here. It creates a path for people we meet at the university to become the first members of a new label.

04SPIN-OUT

Teams become independent labels

A team that completes a project from start to finish becomes an independent label. The team decides how to develop its world and what to make.

We do not think a label can last if headquarters starts deciding the direction of its work. It is better to let the team tell the story it wants to tell through to the end.

05SUPPORT

Headquarters handles the support work

Headquarters handles production technology, canon management, production infrastructure, distribution channels, rights and settlements, and data analysis.

Creative work alone is demanding for a small team. Reviewing contracts and settlements as well is difficult. Headquarters handles those areas instead.

06SCALE

The conditions change as projects accumulate

As the number of labels grows, the IP catalog grows as well. Negotiating with a platform over one title is different from negotiating over a group of titles.

We aim to secure terms together that would be difficult for a single label to obtain.

TRANSMEDIA & REVENUE

One world,
multiple media

We do not limit a project to one medium. Starting with animation, we extend it into webtoons, novels, games, merchandise, OST, performances, and virtual activities. This is possible because the canon is managed in one place.

We deliberately leave some parts of the world unexplained. Fans or partner labels can fill those spaces. Partners who open their IP receive support for crossover production, merchandise distribution, and media exposure.

Three-tier Free-to-Premium revenue model

Revenue comes from free releases, rights sales, and direct payments from fans.

01FREE

Free release on YouTube

We first make it available to everyone. Revenue comes from advertising placed naturally within scenes.

02PREMIUM

OTT rights sales

Titles with a confirmed response from their free release are offered for OTT licensing.

03FANDOM

Direct payments from fans

Merchandise, OST, webtoons, performances, and virtual activities. These give long-term fans a way to pay directly.
